Why Dr. Parsons?

The principles that guide Dr. Parsons’ practice of medicine include the respect for each and every individual, integrity, and authenticity. She treats every patient as she herself would want to be treated, and with the consideration she would give a family member. Dr. Parsons truly enjoys getting to know her patients and appreciates returning to a more traditional setting where she has the opportunity to spend more time with them. She has observed how the changes in healthcare shifted the focus away from the doctor-patient relationship to one that no longer has at its core the best interest of the patient. She wants to practice medicine as her parents, grandparents, and great grandparents had, by caring for people, not just treating their conditions.

Education and Background:

Jessica Parsons graduated with honors in Genetics and French from U. C. Berkeley in 1986 and with honors from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles in 1990.  She completed her residency in dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and has been board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology since 1994.

Dr. Parsons began practicing dermatology in California at the Bakersfield Dermatology and Skin Cancer Clinic. When her husband was offered a position in The Netherlands they moved to a suburb of the Hague where they lived for four years. While in Holland, Dr. Parsons became fluent in Dutch and volunteered at the Department of Dermatology at the Leiden University Medical Center. After leaving Holland, they settled in Houston, where Dr. Parsons has been practicing since 1999.

Dr. Parsons enjoys both general medical and cosmetic dermatology. Her particular interests include patient education, skin cancer awareness and prevention, and caring for people of all ages. She is a nationally certified injector of Botox and performs Restylane and Juvederm filler treatments for facial wrinkles, as well as sclerotherapy for leg veins.

She is an active member of the Houston Dermatologic Society, and the Texas Dermatological Association, and has been recognized by her peers in the inaugural “Doctor’s Choice” (2008), a “Top Dermatologist in Houston” selected by The International Association of Dermatologists (2012), and has been named a “Best Doctor in America” since 2013.

Outside of the office, Dr. Parsons is happiest spending time with family, and her hobbies include oil painting, reading, travel, and foreign languages- she is conversant in French and Spanish in addition to Dutch.
